2011 Chicago Marathon

The photos above were taken along Adams street, near Ashland, as the Chicago Marathon passed through the West Loop on Sunday. There are three ways to see the marathon: by mass transit, bike, or car. Mass transit is by far the most recommended option, as the Red Line allows you to see the start, various points on the north and south side, and the finish of the race. The downside is time: the trains are often quite crowded, and slow. You really have to make a day of it.
Seeing the marathon by car is generally not recommended, however, this western section of the race is an exception. It's lightly populated and relatively easy to park, and assuming you're coming from the north, south or west, you can get to it without having to worry about road closures. I had less than 2 hours to kill on Sunday so riding around on the L wasn't an option. These were all taken in about a 45 minute span.
