the commute

Foster Ave. platform

I'm trying to make more of an effort to take the EL lately.  This photo is from the Foster Ave. EL stop in Evanston, on my way home from work.  A better photo, perhaps, would have included some people to give the scene some life, but this side of the platform is usually pretty desolate.  It's also falling apart.

At the suggestion of someone on flickr, I also posted an alternate version of this shot.

Nikon D50 with a 24mm lens, f2.8.

That's a really nice shot. Feels like the entire top of the platform is about to cave in!

Oh, and of course after the whole thing comes crumbling down, the no-smoking sign will be the only thing left standing.

Thanks Neil. This is one of the worst overhangs that I've seen on the EL. When it rains, it leaks water along the center axis in humorously large quantities. That's probably the reason all the paint is peeling away.

Certain things in Chicago look like shit in real life but in a well composed image they can look amazing. Nice shot man!

You know, I think Justin's head in a bunny outfit just slightly peeping out from behind the no-smoking sign could make this shot worth while!

Make it happen boys. Make it happen.
